At Zanshin Kai, a variety of weapons are used. The demonstration of skill with one or more weapons through kobudo waza and kata is required at 2nd Kyu (first Brown Belt) and above.
Nunchaku: Two rods, usually wooden, connected by cord or chain. Nunchaku are often twirled to generate power and swapped from hand to hand to perform a large variety of strikes and blocks.
Bo: 6 foot staff (usually wooden or bamboo) that is particularly effective for long range techniques.
Sai: Heavy fork-like weapon, usually used in pairs, it can be used to stab, strike, trap and block.
Bokken: Wooden sword that is styled on a Samurai katana.
